a dwarfed body
like the daystar

blocked in
ice

slowly

trickling

away from the warm stream; the puddle regains

remembering
the way
back to the water

taken through thin air

Hi MV

A poignant and interesting look at the painful reality of Alzheimer's. Nicely done.

You might tighten up the end--

remembering
the way
back to water

through thin air

Good read, good suggestion from Chris.

away from the warm stream; the puddle regains

I would break at stream.

Thanks.

I wish I had read this 20 years ago MV. My grandmother had alzheimers and I took care of her myself for about a year. This poem would have given some meaning the times that were so difficult and I knew so little then. Thanks

This touched the deepest reaches of my heart, MV. My mother is currently experiencing memory loss which we assume is Alzheimers and it is heartwrenching. She is slipping away from us and there is nothing we can do. I want to go and pound on someone's chest about the injustice of it all, but there is no one to blame. It is a disease process beyond anyone's control. You have given the victim dignity here and often that is lost along with memory. I thank you for posting this -- it made me weep.

MV, you have said much here in few words. Well done.
